Beards. Some men they adore them, others they have never ventured into bearded territory. Whether you already know and love the tricks to sporting a lavish, long beard or are wanting to up your beard game, House 99 's Grooming Artist Nick has answered your beard questions below... Styling your beard.

I want to grow a beard how can I do this?

Growing a beard takes patience more than anything else. The main rule is to leave your beard for four weeks to let it grow and allow it to take shape. This can become very difficult, but perseverance is key when achieving a solid bit of facial hair. The itchy and irritable stage will occur within the first two weeks. This can become uncomfortable and annoying however, there are certain techniques tips and tricks to help with preventing this from occurring. Within the House 99 range we have a number of shaving and beard products to help with your desired look. The two I would recommend to support your beard growth are as followed.

The first product to use is Get Groomed Beard Scrub, the process to get the best results for this product go like this.

Step 1) lightly tap warm water over the facial hair area.

Step 2) Apply a ten pence piece size of beard scrub into the palm of your hand and rub together until both hands are evenly covered in product.

Step3) With circular motions, massage the scrub onto the facial area for around one minute.

Step 4) Wash away the beard scrub with warm water and dry your face as you normally would do.

This is how the scrub works.

1) The scrub keeps the facial hair soft and hydrated for up to 12 hours.

2) By using the scrub you will prevent any ingrowing hairs from occurring and prevent a build-up of flaky skin and redness.

3) Thicker facial hair is the dream for most guys so continue to use the scrub daily. This will stimulate the hair follicles and aid the growth.

Step 1) Squeeze a ten pence piece size amount of product into the palm of your hand.

Step 2) Warm the product into both hands until the balm has disappeared.

Step 3) Massage the balm onto the facial hair area until covered.

Step 4) Brush or comb the facial hair to get an even coverage.

With any product you are using to style your beard the golden rule is “less is more”, so let’s discuss the steps.

Styling your hair should be fun and exciting. I would always recommend a product that is water based as this will prevent any oiliness occurring not only on your hair, but also your skin.

Depending on your hair length and style House 99 have not one, but two products, to help achieve your desired non greasy look. Both products leave the hair looking natural and matte.

Not only will these products help with your desired look but the tips and tricks will also help enhance your look for your future styling.

The Change It Up Styling Clay is ideal for shorter length hair the clay leaves a matte natural finishes to the hair and prevents any oiliness from occurring on the forehead, this is because of its sweat resister preventatives. Most importantly, the clay is able to be re-worked throughout the day without the application of more product.

For best results I would recommend the following steps.

Step 1) Apply a five pence piece size of clay into the palm of your hand and rub together until product has absorbed into the skin.

Step 2) Starting from the back of your head and working your way forward massage with both hands giving an even coverage to your hair.

Step 3) With a medium heat blow-dry your hair into shape.

Step 4) Apply another five pence piece of product into your hair and style with your fingers.

The Smooth Back Shaping Pomade is great for medium to long length hair. The pomade has been one of the best sellers for House 99 since the launch of the brand. This is my go to product for everyday use. The pomade will leave your hair soft and nourished. With its medium hold you are able to re-work your hair throughout the day to achieve your desired look.

For best results I would recommend the following steps.

Step 1) Apply a five pence piece size of clay into the palm of your hand and rub together until product has absorbed into the skin.

Step 2) Starting from the back of your head and working your way forward massage with both hands giving an even coverage to your hair.

I need a moisturiser but I have dry sensitive skin?

Every chap believes they have dry sensitive skin. Whether you do or don’t you are in luck as House 99 have two moisturisers to help your skin look and feel its best. Moisturiser should be used each and every day, getting yourself into a routine is key to letting your skin look its best. The two products being shown today will not only support dry, sensitive, and oily skin but they will also leave a matte finish on the skin.

The Greater Look Face Moisturiser and The Broad Defence Face moisturiser have exactly the same application technique and also the same qualities but with one small difference Broad defence contains SPF 20. This is great for summer and winter.

But let’s discuss application for best results.

Step 1) Squeeze a small amount of moisturiser into the palm of your hand and rub together until the skin has absorbed the product.

Step 2) Apply directly to the face with light circular motions.

Step 3) Once evenly covered gently tap you fingers over your face going in the same direction.

Step 4) Lastly, just gently rub over your ears and neck to keep yourself soft and hydrate all day.

Remember: There is no need to apply moisturiser to your beard. Also remember “Less is more” stick to minimal amounts of product per application. You will notice a difference straight away when applying.
