Bald and facial hair styles. Hair Cutting Techniques Hair In The Bible

The hair does not get much attention when the bible is being read. But if we explore the scriptures in the bible we can see if it makes mention to it, whether it is the males or female hair. A good scripture to start this off –, is: Bald hair and beard styles.

27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

Here we see that it is unlawful for a person to round the corners of their head and for a man to mar his beard, which means to change its look unnaturally, for instance to bald the edges of your beard to have a goatee when you have a full beard. It is also unlawful to ’,round the corners of your head’,, which means to make your head bald.

Further evidence that bald heads are not supported by the scriptures can be seen in:

40 And the man whose hair is fallen off his head, he is bald, yet is he clean.

We are told here that being naturally bald would not make a man unclean, which is proof to the fact an unnatural bald head is unclean.

When we continue to read, we see that we are also not to bald the corners of our beard:

Emphasis should be put on the word ‘,mar’,, this basically means to ruin. The word Mar is taken from the Hebrew Shachath, strongs

In this instance we know that hair is the issue, so it can safely be said that cutting off all your facial hair would be considered ruining it in the eyes of the Father.

And more specifically cutting the edge of a beard, into the shape of a goatee unnatural to its normal growth can be seen as ruining the edges, as explained early.

Today using fancy hair cutting techniques and styles on your facial hair and the hair of your head seem normal, but as believers we have to see things from the Fathers point of view –, seeing as he created us and our hair, he has the right to tell us what he doesn’,t want us to cut it all away, or change the style of growth he has given us.

If we read further, we can see that shaving your hair is permitted, but cutting it completely bald during cleansing, was not practiced. If we take a look at the vow of a Nazarite, during the cleansing period, we see that if you had come in contact with a dead body, you would have to cleanse yourself which involved shaving the locks of your hair off, which you had been growing as part of your vow.

9 And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he hath defiled the head of his consecration, then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it.

Also when a leper was being cleansed he was to shave off all his hair.

9 But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off: and he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean.

So from these scriptures shaving the hair has a spiritual significance, and is done when cleansing yourself to the Father. But from these scriptures there is no mention of complete baldness even when cleansing.

When we read the command given to the Levite priest’,s in

5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

Here we see the Father reminding Moses to tell the Levite priests that they are not not to cut their hair bald, as he said to all of Israel in…,

From all this it can be concluded that cutting your hair is permitted, but baldness is not permitted, neither is changing the natural growth pattern of a mans facial hair.
