While facial hair may often be seen as an alternative look attempted only by men with a penchant for edgy bands, this is in fact untrue. With 52 percent of British men and 57 percent of Londoners currently sporting either a beard or moustache, facial hair is - close your ears, hipsters - verging on mainstream.
In a study conducted by Braun, it became apparent that one in three facial-hair-fans favours the 'full beard' making it the most popular style in the UK. And if you want some inspiration, Londoners, then just step outside your door, because the city with the most 'full beards' is our very own capital.
But full beards are not the only option. While The Hangover's Zack Galifianakis may prove the power of the bull beard, Ben Affleck's extended goatee, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine mutton chops and Mel Gibson's chin strip &, moustache all feature in the top ten most popular UK styles.
With so many different styles and so many different techniques needed for each, it's important to have the right equipment. Take a look through our guide of the ten best razors and electric shavers and pick the right one for you.

But remember, not all styles will suit every face. As Braun grooming ambassador, Fabio Vivan, said: "Men have become much more adventurous and experimental with different facial hair styles."
"Your facial hair is an integral part of your own distinctive look, it should be tailored to suit your face shape and improve your image."
Before you get ahead of yourselves, however, do bear in mind that the study also discovered that 41 percent of those with facial hair have been asked to shave it all off by their partner, while 17 percent have even been issued an ultimatum. But with 19 percent of you 'feeling more like an alpha male' with the extra hair, you're probably too manly to mind.
